Ali Alkobesi is a 21 year old International Business student with his whole life ahead of him. A successful student, a supportive family, and a beautiful wife to be come this September. But life wasn't always on the up and up for Ali. In 2015, Ali's weight topped out at a staggering 300 pounds. Although the health risk are the biggest things Ali should've been concerned with, since he is young and into fashion, his biggest humiliations was he couldn't shop at popular clothing stores -- the clothing wasn't large enough. When he found clothing that fit, he often didn't have a choice in styles or colors. One of his biggest motivations was being able to fit into designer clothes again. 

For several years he cycled around different diets to temporarily lose a few pounds here and there, only to gain it back.

After reading numerous books and reading online lectures to learn more as he began eating a plant based diet. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes (with nuts and seeds). Gradually, he cut out sugar, salt and oils. Ali worked out an upwards of 5 days a week and consumed a whey protein recovery drink

The quick results were encouraging.

It wasn't just his weight that started to drop. His cholesterol and blood pressure lowered as well. As a result of the workouts, his energy levels started to rise.

Ali also discovered that he could eat as much as he wanted of the right foods and not gain weight. His new way of eating felt more like abundance than deprivation.

After one year and one day on his new diet, Ali successfully lost 100 pounds. He now weighs 154, and he can finally wear the designer clothes that he loves. 

Ali has a new goal now - to build muscle. With the help of Houston-based trainer, Darryl Perrillox, owner of DMP Fitness, Ali plans to fill out his new body with 20 pounds of muscle just in time for his wedding in the Fall.
